Newegg.com - Brother MFC-5460cn Printer/Scanner/Fax for $80 after rebate
Brother MFC-5460CN inkjet printer, flatbed scanner, and fax machine for $100 with free shipping, and a $20 mail-in rebate is available. While not the cheapest we've seen this Brother, it is still one of the best deals around for a decent all-in-one printer, especially for someone with a home or office network. It has built-in Ethernet network connectivity, so you can plug it into any Switch or Router, and print from any computer on your home or office network. Its flatbed scanner can store scanned documents onto a Secure Digital or Compact Flash memory card, or send those files to a networked computer. The reviews are very good. Most other stores sell it for $100 to $150.

Its included ink cartridges should last for about 6 months of occasional printing. Third-party replacement cartridges are relatively inexpensive, such as a 10-pack C/M/Y/K for $23 with coupon BROTHER15P .

Tyris T902WDT Widescreen 19" LCD Monitor for $139 plus about $9 shipping, and a $40 mail-in rebate is available. Also a Canon Printer for $50 with free shipping, and a $50 mail-in rebate is available when purchased with the monitor. A similar non-widescreen Tyris monitor had good reviews.

Frys.com - Geforce 7200GS Graphics Card for $6 after rebate

EVGA Geforce 7200GS 256MB PCIe Graphics card for desktop computers for $50 plus about $6 shipping, and a $50 manufacturer's mail-in rebate is available. A good deal if you need a cheap graphics card for a spare computer, but it has relatively poor reviews.

If you are looking for a much better low-cost graphics graphics card, it may be better to pay an extra $25 and get a Geforce 8400GS 256MB Graphics Card for $31 after shipping and rebate, or a Geforce 8400GS 512MB Graphics Card for $30 after rebate. It has better support for dual monitors, better drivers, and performs well for the price.

Frys.com - cheap 22" LCD Monitor for $140 after rebates

Note, this deal is very risky for 2 reasons: the quality of the monitor, and the chance of not getting the $50 rebate on the monitor.

This really is a cheap LCD monitor, so be aware that if you dislike it and already submitted the rebate, you may be stuck paying over a hundred dollars for a poor quality item that no one wants. Even some recently completed Ebay auctions had trouble selling this monitor. The few reviews of this monitor gave it about 3 stars out of 5, and there are a couple reports of broken LCDs and the manufacturer failed to provide adequate support. Our recommendation is to avoid a deal like this unless you really do want a cheap LCD monitor and do not care about quality.

The mail-in rebate for the monitor appears to be a Fry's rebate, not a manufacturer's rebate. Fry's has a poor history of not fulfilling their own rebates, and chances of not getting your $50 is greater than a manufacturer's rebate. The $50 printer rebate is a manufacturer rebate.

BestBuy - $10 off $75 in video games in-store
Not valid on game hardware, but a great deal if you're looking to buy some Playstation 3, Wii, or Xbox games in-store.

PC Club and ClubIT Close: The parent company of PC Club retail stores and ClubIT.com recently filed for bankruptcy, and decided to cease operations immediately. If you recently placed an order from ClubIT.com, it is important to notify your credit card company immediately that ClubIT ceased operations, and request a credit on your purchase.

PC Laptops, a competing retail store to PC Club in Las Vegas and Utah, is offering free labor & service for any desktop or laptop computer purchased from PC Club that requires professional service.

ClubIT.com had lots of great deals in 2007, but we posted none since January. In the last few months we noticed they started a marketing strategy involving a new ClubiT mail-in rebate service. This unusual method of advertising after-rebate deals using their own rebate service (rather than manufacturer's rebate services) raised some red flags with us, so we never posted any deals here involving one of their own rebates. However we did not expect them to close up shop. If you did recently purchase a product from ClubIT.com involving a ClubIT mail-in rebate, you should also try disputing that purchase with your credit card company since it is unlikely you will ever receive the rebate they promised you at time of purchase. The ClubIT rebates would have looked like this (very plain looking, and with a City of Industry, CA mailing address), whereas more reputable manufacturer rebate forms would have looked more professional and had a different mailing address.

This is just the console unit with a wireless remote and a sensor, and includes no games. For use on a HDTV, you may want to buy a Component Video Cable for about $7.50 after shipping fee.

Fans of Unreal Tournament 2004 should like this new version, but people who did not like UT2004 may not find this game enjoyable either.

D-Link DGS-2208 Gigabit Ethernet Switch is back at $45 with free shipping, and a $10 mail-in rebate is available. This is a great deal, since D-Link makes good quality networking products, and this one has very good specs and good reviews on Newegg. It connects up to 8 wired network devices and/or computers supporting 10, 100 and 1000 megabit speeds. It supports auto MDI-X, meaning any of its 8 ports can be used to uplink to another Switch or router.

For a similar cheaper products:
- D-Link 5-port 10/100 Switch for $18, and also has the same $10 mail-in rebate ($8 after rebate).
- D-Link 5-port Gigabit Switch for $36, and also has a the same $10 mail-in rebate ($26 after rebate).
Each of these have auto MDI-X uplink on each port, have excellent reviews on Newegg, and most other stores sell them for more.

Also a cablemodem and a router deal:
- D-Link Cablemodem for $56, and a $20 mail-in rebate ($36 after rebate). Cable customers can save on the modem rental fee by supplying their own cablemodem. A few people say they noticed a small speed improvement over the cablemodem supplied by their cable company.
- D-Link Gaming Router with Gigabit for $93, and a $20 mail-in rebate ($73 after rebate). This router does not include wireless, but some people say this router performed better than others and improved their broadband Internet connectivity.
They all share the same rebate form, and it can be used for up to 2 separate purchases through the end of May.

CompUSA.com - $20 back with $200 purchase using Paypal
When you checkout with Paypal as the payment method, you get a $20 refund deposited to your Paypal account 6-8 weeks after making a single online purchase of $200 or more.

You can still use a credit card with Paypal payments. However note that special benefits you would normally get when buying at stores, such as some American Express customers which automatically receive an extra year warranty added to electronics purchases, will not be available when you use Paypal.

Example of a great deal:

AbesOfMaine.com - Kodak Z812 Digital Camera for $196

Kodak Z812 Digital Camera with 12x image stabilized optical zoom, and 1280x720 30 frames per second video capture (same resolution as 720p HDTV, half the frames per second). AbesOfMaine.com sells it for $206, the cheapest anywhere, and coupon CJMDY55 gives $10 off in the cart. It has some of the best reviews we have seen for a new camera priced under $200 (Newegg, Amazon, DigitalCameraInfo.com reviews). People say the quality is similar to a more expensive SLR, but more compact, easier to use, and includes HD quality video capture.

Note, it does not include a rechargeable battery. It requires disposable CRV3 batteries (1 included), a Kodak brand KLIC-8000 rechargeable battery with a compatible charger, or rechargeable AA batteries rated at least 2500 mAh. Although regular AA batteries will fit, they will not work. Some non-Kodak brand KLIC-8000 batteries will not work, so beware buying cheaper third party brand.

Newegg.com - Belkin 1500VA UPS for $135 after rebate
Belkin 1500VA UPS for $160, and a $25 mail-in rebate is available. Most other stores sell it for around $160. Note, one big complaint about this UPS is beeping when operating on battery, which can be silenced by tapping the power button while operating on battery, but the beeping cannot be silenced permanently.

Targus HP600 Evolution Nylon Backpack on sale for $27, plus $13 for 3-day shipping for one ($40 total). If you buy more than one in a single order, shipping costs $5 for each additional ($72 total for 2, $104 for 3, etc). Other stores sell this bag for around $80 each (after shipping fees). Onecall is a very good online store with great customer service.

We used 2 of these laptop backpacks for 4 years, and still and love them. They are perfect for 15" and 17" notebook computers, but can seem too large for 12" notebooks. It has excellent padding and plenty of room for an extra battery, mouse, power cord, portable 2.5" hard drive, and a water bottle. As a backpack, it is not as stylish as a traditional laptop attache case, but its plain black color does not look too awkward especially for a traveler. Several other laptop bags are now available in the $15 to $35 range, but they are not as nice as this one.

The only complaint we heard is the rough material on the inside of the bag can produce scratches on the outside of their laptop. We had not seen that problem, but if someone's laptop really is that fragile, it seems that issue can be prevented by placing a piece of paper or a thin file folder between the laptop and the bag's interior.

Some stores sell this backpack with a tiny HP logo on the front, but ours ordered from OneCall have no logo. Having no HP logo on the bag is nice, because it does not advertise to potential thieves that a computer is inside the bag. The product's photos on Onecall are poor, but better quality photos of the same backpack product can be seen on Amazon.com.

Update (5/10): It appears this deal may finally be sold out. This deal has been available at OneCall for over 4 years now, but as of today it appears to finally be gone. Hope you got one.

Note, one of the most common causes of computer hardware failues are electrical issues.
