Chimei 22" LCD Widescreen Computer Monitor for $180 with free shipping, for today only. While it does not have a DVI input desired on most large screen computer monitors, it has VGA, HDMI, Component Video inputs, built-in memory card readers, speakers, and a 3 year warranty. It can also be used as a 1080p Monitor for Playstation3, Xbox 360, and cable TV. This is a new monitor, and few reviews exist. The older model of this monitor had superb reviews. However the user manual is very thin.

It includes a VGA cable, but a DVI-to-HDMI cable is recommended for computers with DVI output, such as this DVI-to-HDMI Cable for about $7 after shipping fee.

It has a "glossy" screen, meaning colors should pop more vividly than standard LCD monitors. However the downside of glossy screens is their reflective surface is very susceptible to glare. If the monitor faces a window or light source, the glare can be annoying and may even cause eye strain.

$180 is a great deal for a 22" LCD monitor, especially one with great specs such as this. The brand name is relatively unknown in this country, but according to Wikipedia Chimei is the world's fourth largest maker of LCD monitors, and likely owner of Westinghouse Electronics. We heard a few horror stories about Chimei's warranty/RMA service, but if this monitor's quality turns out anything like the older model, hopefully warranty will never be needed.

Viewsonic 28" 1080p LCD HDTV Monitor is on sale for $500 with free shipping for Costco members. Non-Costco members can also buy it with a 5% surcharge ($525 total), but it may just be worthwhile to pay $50 for a 1 year Costco membership. Most other stores sell it for around $100 more. It has no built-in tuner, so it can only be used with cable/fios box, satellite service, or as a 28" computer monitor.

The specs on Staples show only VGA (D-Sub) input on the monitor, but the manufacturer's specs and reviews show it does have a DVI input, although does not include a DVI cable.

Their 3 year warranty is actually very good. If Dell is unable to resolve the monitor's problem over the phone, they will ship a free replacement to you, then you use their pre-paid shipping label and the new monitor's box to ship the broken monitor back to Dell.

- Seagate 750GB Serial-ATA Hard Drive for $100 with promo code HD72220 . Has a very nice 5 year warranty, but Seagate drives operate louder other drives when undergoing heavy usage. That comes to $0.133 per GB, a great deal.
- Samsung 750GB Serial-ATA Hard Drive for $100 with promo code HD702220 . That also comes to $0.133 per GB, a great deal. Has double the cache size as the Seagate, and may perform slightly better.
Codes are each limited to one use per account.

Update (12pm EDT): If you intend to use drives like these for removable storage rather than inside a computer, like with a BlacX docking station, it may be a good idea to pick up some anti-static bags. Newegg's drives do come in a factory sealed anti-static bag, but are not re-sealable. There are some nicer bags available with zip-loc tops. StaticBags.com sells a 50-pack of 6x8 Zip-Loc Top Anti-Static Bags for $8.45 plus $4.75 shipping ($13.20) through their website and through Ebay. We found their bags very handy for safekeeping removable hard drives, and that store has superb reviews on Ebay. Although these bags provide no cushion protection from violent impacts.

There are some really great deals today at Newegg, some of which may sell out early this morning.

Monitors:
- Sceptre 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor for $190 with promo code EMCAHBFAD . Finding a 22" monitor priced under $200 is rare these days, and this deal may sell out quickly.
Printers:
- Brother MFC-465CN Printer/Scanner/Fax for $70. Every other store sells it for over $100, and this deal will likely sell out sometime today.
- Samsung CLP-300 Color Laser Printer for $230 with promo code EMCAHBFBC and a $150 mail-in rebate is available. Paying $80 for a color laser printer is a very good deal (if you remember to mail in the rebate), however keep in mind replacing the color toner cartridges can cost as much as the printer itself (about $74), and this printer only provides about 1,000 color pages per refill. The laser gives good quality as mentioned in the product reviews on Newegg, but keep in mind color inkjet printers are more economically friendly.
Hard Drives

Networking

- D-Link DGL-4100 Gigabit Router for $94 with promo code ROUTER7146 and a $20 mail-in rebate is available ($74 after rebate). No wireless capability, but if Internet performance is of utmost importance, especially if you pay for a fast 10-megabit or 20-megabit Internet connection, this is one of the best routers available in the sub-$100 price point. We tested one of these on a 20-megabit cablemodem connection, and consistently achieved 20-megabit speeds. A $45 Linksys router fluctuated between 8 and 18 megabits with the same downloads.
