Details:Star Wars: Attack of the digital film:
This is one of the first non-animated movies to be filmed entirely on digital media. This could mean a much better picture in the theater, if your movie theater has a Boeing digital projector. Information.

Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones was shot entirely on digital media instead of film. Few theaters will show the movie on a digital projector, while most theaters will show the movie on film that was converted from the digital media.

Because each digital projector costs over $150,000 each, there are only a handful of theaters throughout the world that have a digital media projector (DLP), and some of those will show digital versions of Star Wars. Here is the complete list of theaters showing Star Wars on a digital projector. The digital picture should be much clearer than any movie you've seen on the big screen.

However, people who see Star Wars on a regular film-reel movie projector will see a picture quality potentially slightly worse than other movies. Here's why. When a digital image is converted into a film image, the quality is still great but it becomes a little grainy when the film image is enhanced onto a big screen - much more so than an image that originally came from film. So when the image is enlarged onto the theater screen, an image that was converted from digital media to plastic film will appear slightly grainy, and may have a worse image than a movie that was originally shot on film. Lucas probably knew about this problem, but he probably expected hundreds of theaters to have digital projectors by the time Star Wars was released.

I recommend that you check the list to see if a theater near you shows the movie on digital media to get the best experience out of the movie as possible. Two of my local theaters are showing Star Wars on a digital projector, one allows me to purchase DLP tickets through Fandango.com, while the other one appears to only sell tickets for the digital theater at their own box office.
