Details:Obihai Voice-Over-IP Home Phone Adapter for $42.50
(repost)

OBi200 Voice Over IP telephone adapter for $42.47. Normally $50. Newegg had it for $35 a few weeks ago, but Amazon has since had the next best deal on this device which gives free home telephone service over your Internet connection.

Setting up a free Google Voice account is easy, here is an instructional video. Plug in any home telephone, such as a Uniden, Panasonic, VTech, Motorola, or AT&T cordless phone, and you can make and receive phone calls.

We have used the 2-line version, the OBi202, for 3 years and love it. The pros:
  • Call quality is superior to mobile phones.
  • All calls (incoming and outgoing) within the US and Canada are free with Google Voice.
  • Google voice integrates well with your home computer and mobile phone.
  • To add another line, just get another Obihai.
The cons:
  • Emergency 911 calls do not work with Google Voice. Use your cell/mobile phone for emergencies, but giving your name and address could consume valuable response time. Obi does offer 911 service through Anveo for $15/year, and is easy to add to the free Google Voice. We added it to ours. If someone dials 911 from our phone, our address will automatically appear on the screens of emergency responders.
