Details:Digital Camera Deals for a Vacation:
If you are planning a vacation sometime soon, you probably want a real digital camera to take photos better than your smartphone can. A real digital camera has a much better lens and flash than what is on your phone, so it can take sharper photos especially under low-light conditions. Compact cameras are good for indoor use, and cameras with larger lenses are better for outdoor use.

This is probably one of the best times of the year to buy a used, older model digital camera on Ebay. 6 years ago, if you wanted to take digital pictures, you needed to buy a digital camera. Now everyone carries around a personal camera on their phone, so the market for handheld digital cameras is different. Prices of new cameras are still high, with underwater cameras (with full HD recording) going for $150 to $250, and SLR cameras going for $500 to $2000. Many 6 year-old cameras (used) are available on Ebay now with many of the same features the new cameras have today. Plus, since most people have also finished their summer vacations by now, so there are not a lot of travelers bidding for cameras on Ebay right now. Even some 6 year-old SLR cameras are going for under $150 (body only, without lens), about one-sixth the price of a newer model.

If you are planning a vacation soon, and want to bring a camera that can take excellent pictures while being cheap enough if it were to break or get stolen, Ebay is full of great deals right now.

When buying an older model camera, be sure it takes Secure Digital (SD) memory cards. SD cards are pretty much the standard today, and cards are very cheap (about 40¢ per GB). Some older cameras, especially Sony cameras, use other media such as Compact Flash and Memory Stick.

Also beware that some older cameras that include batteries may not carry a charge as well as they did when new. Sometimes a replacement rechargeable battery can go for $10 to $50, depending on the model. Some older cameras may also take AA batteries, something very useful when traveling since you can just carry extra batteries rather than charging the camera each night.

When researching digital cameras, you can use SnapSort.com to compare cameras' features, sizes, and ratings. Many 6-7 year-old cameras have similar features as cameras today, including HD (720p) video recording, image-stabilized optical zoom, and compact sizes.
