I mainly use this for my main game called counter-strike: GO for the PC. It is pretty amazing comparing to my last headset. I think its amazing. At first I wasn't sure about it, but now I don't regret my buy at all. CS:GO is all about knowing where the enemies are around you, and this headphone does an AMAZING job pointing out the enemies with the sound positioning.
Once again, going back to playing cs:go, these headphones got me hearing things I didn't with the Platronics. I can't believe the sounds I was able to hear. The difference is I hear everything CLEAR. CRYSTAL CLEAR. I may have heard them in the other headphones, but if its not clear, its possible to easily mix it up with other sounds, or not even hear it I guess? When I play CS:GO and listen to the silencer on the m4, god d*mn, the feels are amazing. You hear the bass of the silencer right next to you. With the way the headphones are position you can easily tell where the gun fire came from.
I am a big fan of rap music. I read reviews saying these headphones don't have any bass. But comparing my platronics and even other headphones, the bass in these sound amazing. I'm sure headphones could get more bass, but Im a person who was always into JL Audio subs, and speakers, I like my clear music but still bumpin. These headphones are perfect for what I use them for. If I want full on bass, I just use my actual nice PC speakers.
Anyways, the main reason I bought this, is because I kept reading how headphones should be used to hear sounds in games than using a "headset". I never made the change, because I need to use a microphone. I thought it would pick up more things than just my voice, but I was wrong, and I'm glad I made the switch to headphones and a microphone for my online gaming.
Bottom line:
These headphones are amazing. You don't get the sound quality like these in "gaming headsets" at this price. These sound amazing, and I will never get a headset again in my life. If you play CS:GO or any games in general, you will love these headphones because they do a great job of doing directional sound.
Samson SR950 is a decent studio headphone came with a very good price. There is no extra stuff in the box but headphone and 3,5mm to 6,35mm jack adaptor. Cardboard box and stand gives you a cheap impression but headphone itself is not. On that price which is ~40$, i didn't expect very good presentation like wrapped with sponges either.
Headphone's design is nearly looks like akg 240k. Headband is nice and that strings which is on the top looks like metal but actually they are plastic. The veloured earpads are good but i used Kingston HyperX before and that headset's earpads are much more comfy with memory foam. Even so, that headset is more pricey. Headphone itself is tight, you can feel the squeezing effect, so long hour usage might be exhausting, depending on your head size. By the way Isolation is very good.
I think Samson did a terrific job on Low ends and High ends on that headphone. I'm a Heavy Metal fan and musician and i've never hear that good kick drum sound on a headphone which is that price range. Snare and cymbal sounds are very very pleasant too. I can feel the snare's membrane is poppling when stick is struck to the snare. Mid range is not impressive like others but it's very good and not tiring.
Samson SR950 is a killer headphone for that price range. I'm recommending for recording and listening rock/metal music. Also, i think that headphone is much more better than gaming headphones and headsets. I've tried HyperX Cloud 2 and G35. That headsets have boosted bass range, mids are staying behind, details are lost, muddy. On the outside, that headsets looks cool but inside they are using bad drivers.
Top reviews from other countries
For the price, these headphones offer remarkable value, comfort and of course - excellent audio reproduction.
