Details: | OBi202 Voice Over IP Adapter for $50, code: EMCASNN46 Newegg discounted the Obihai OBi202 Voice Over IP Phone Adapter from $68 to $50 when applying code EMCASNN46 in the cart. It has been on sale for $55 a couple times before, but rarely found for $50. The OBi202 works with standard home/cordless phones, and uses Voice Over IP (VoIP) services to make and receive calls. It works with a free Google Voice account, supports up to 4 VoIP services, up to 2 home phone lines, and supports call transfer/conferencing between the 2 home phone lines. The OBi202 has some of the best features available in a sub-$100 VoIP box. We paid $60 for one a year ago, and have been happy with it. Beware that a VoIP box like this will not be able to make 911 emergency calls, unless you subscribe to a paid VoIP service. According to Obihai, Anveo E911 Service is available for $15/year. Anveo works with a free Google Voice account. Without paying for an E911 service on your Voice-over-IP box, you must rely on your cell/mobile phone to make emergency calls. There is value in paying for the $15/yr E911 service, though. E911 could possibly give a quicker emergency response, because E911 should display your home address immediately on the emergency call center's screen. Whereas if you call 911 on your mobile phone, you would probably have to tell them your home address, which could take more time for responders to find you. Even still, a Voice-over-IP box could save you a lot of money over paying for a regular old telephone line. |
