Jet Blue is having a little airfare sale, with flights as low as $49 each-way (after taxes). Airfares include:
  • Long Beach and Oakland/San Francisco for $49 each way
  • Boston and Richmond, VA for $54 each way
  • Newark and Boston for $69 each way
  • New York and Fort Lauderdale for $99 each way
Jet Blue recently removed itself from the shrinking list of US airlines that allow free checked luggage. As of now, all Jet Blue flights, including international flights, charge an additional $20 per checked bag on top of your airfare.

The only major US airline with free checked baggage is Southwest Airlines. Most airlines do offer promotions to get free checked baggage, such as signing up for their credit card. Unless you fly one airline a lot to take advantage of their promotions, most airline credit cards are not the great deals because free flights are getting harder to get. Redeeming points for free flights on most airlines today cost an average of almost double the points (miles) of 6-10 years ago. Cards that give cash back, or cards that allow redeeming points on any airline, would be better deals unless you usually stick to one airline.
