The $59 Kindle is the latest (7th generation) model, which has a touchscreen. In our opinion, it is the best value for an eReader on the market. Thousands of books are available on Kindle (often cheaper than the printed books themselves), and the Kindle can store thousands of books. It uses a true LCD display and does not emit light, which is better on your eyes. Staring at a tablet or phone is like staring at a light bulb, and can damage your eyes especially when used in a dark room. A Kindle must be used with ambient light since it does not emit light, but will be healthier for your eyes. The $99 Paperwhite has a built-in light, but also keeps your eyes healthy. It emits light from the sides and illuminates surface of the display (unlike a tablet or phone that shines in your face). |
